Spring Cleaning Rituals
Many people take time during the spring to clean house, both literally and metaphorically. The witchy among us, though, know that cleaning is a powerful type of magic, making the world we want it to be. Here are some rituals for your spring cleaning.
Declutter a space that’s been bothering you.
Give thanks for each item then get rid of it!
Clean your windows so you can see the return of the light.
Spring clean yourself.
Take a bath or shower with intention of washing away any negative energy left from winter.
Don’t forget to do some spring cleaning in nature.
Take some time with a trash bag in your favorite nature spot and pick up some trash as a gift to Earth.
Smoke Cleansing
Smoke cleanse your home or yourself. In Scottish folk magic, this is called Saining. Use whatever local plants are safe to burn. If you can’t smoke cleanse, you can also clear out energy with sound. Ring a bell or clap your hands around your home (make sure you get the corners where energy can get stuck).
A Prayer for Making Your Bed

Note: The Prayer for Making Your Bed was found in Esther de Waal’s Way of Celtic Prayer. It’s an excellent book that shows how the Celts blended the sacred with the secular, and I highly recommend it.
Energy
When you clean, open your windows so any negative energy stirred up can escape (plus you let in that glorious fresh spring energy!). Sweep your floors with the intention of sweeping away negative energy. Witches have long been associated with brooms, and traditionally they would sweep above the floor just sweeping the energy. Ain’t nobody got time for that. Just sweep the floor with intention. Or bless your robot vacuum, run it with the intention of sucking up negative energy, and then empty it outside.
